I've heard rumors that people in Bolivia are claiming that this alien actually landed there, and has started a llama farm. In fact, there is talk of border skirmishes, as both countries want to get some good money out of this, open museums etc, such as they have in Roswell and Las Vegas. Stay tuned to this business; if the author doesn't write a sequel, some one will.

 I'm still lost...
Wanted more. Author didn't deliver. Second hand info and overt speculation are really all this book has to offer. Author holds himself in such a high regard that I thought the book was more about him and his visit to Brazil than any true crash investigation. Pass on this one. Not worth the time.

UFO Mishmash in Brazil
The author is presented as a top flight scientific investigator,however, he does not conduct a scientific investigation. The book begins like a Chamber of Commerce pamphlet on rural Brazil. Finally we get to the "crash" investigation in earnest, but all the author does is run around Brazil listening to 2nd or 3rd hand stories from a local investigator. He manages to visit a few sights, but they present no valuable information so long after the "events"sited in the text took place. He wastes so much time in fact, he finds that he has none left to actually seek out any first hand witnesses for an interview. His field research time has run out. He must return home after leading this reader on an unsatisfactory safari. This is a case unproven.

A Complete Summary of the Incident
If you do a Google search on Varginha you find something like 160,000 entries. Some of these are merely reporting on the city of this name in Brazil. Most of them however relate to the story of a crashed UFO. The report is that in April, 1997 a UFO crashed in the town.
This book consists of research conducted in Varginha by the author. He personally interviewed most of the known witnesses and presents this book as a summary of everything that is known about the incident.
As with the situation in Roswell, the incident occurred, and the military responded. The aliens that were captured were taken away by the military and have not been seen since. Nor is there any physical evidence in the hands of people outside the military that would definitely point to an extraterrestrial origin. ==Unfortunately we are left with a matter of faith. Those who believe in UFO's will remain convinced, those who do not will merely look at like any other story.
Dr. Leir is a podiatrist who has published other books in the general area of UFOlogy.

Aliens in Varginha...
Though I've not read the book I have heard the author discussing the incident detailed about a UFO crashing in Varginha, Brazil. The incident beings on January 19, 1996 with a damaged UFO heading towards Varginha, followed by several eye witness accounts of strange beings in the area. They all describe small 4 to 5 foot creatures, with oily brown skin, 3 protrusions on their heads, and large red eyes... Witnesses include ordinary citizens, school aged children, doctors and military personnel.
The story detailed in this book, along with a recent announcement by the Brazilian government that they would open their UFO files to the general public, may lead to absolute proof of an alien presence visiting our planet...
Anybody who enjoys reading about UFO incidents such as Roswell, Kecksburg, or Rendlesham should get a whole lot of enjoyment out of this book.
